"I am am artist who appreciates traditional compositions, rich color and unique spaces.
I try to find something that speaks about humanity and the irony of life, even though only a few of my photos feature people. "
Having spent the vast majority of my life as an educator , the camera would be a natural tool as I considered analyzing reality around me. Growing up on the high plains in Montana the vast sky pierced by a variety of mountain peaks dotting the horizon led me to worship the light. Most of the events of my youth were recorded by cheap plastic cameras. For a long period of my early years as an elementary school teacher, the camera was in a drawer somewhere. It was only while teaching on the island of Sicily in the early 60s. that I again treasured what was being captured, recording places and people entirely foreign to me. Once the PhD was in hand and the college classroom was filled with inquisitive minds , art historical data needed to be recorded and replayed, reviewed, sharing the place and time. Here again the camera was priceless. Family and friends began commenting on the artistic nature found in some of the slides. In the opening years of this century, this was reinforced by Professor Weller at Texas State University, so under his encouragement I began to seek out the artistic qualities found in the world around me. After finding the results of two one-man shows satisfying, I joined the New Braunfels Art League and the Carriage House Gallery where my work can be found today.
