New Chief of Police

Chief of Police Steve Perez

Steve Perez was sworn in as the sixth Chief of the Boerne Police Department on February 25, 2022.

Chief Perez was born and raised in San Antonio. After serving four years of active duty in the United States Army as a mechanized Infantryman with the 1st Infantry Division, he began his law enforcement career in 1998 with the Alamo Community Colleges District Department of Public Safety. In 1999, he joined the City of Boerne as a police officer.

Chief Perez serves on several local nonprofit organizations as a board member. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University – San Antonio with a BA in Criminology, as well as Texas A&M University – College Station with a Master of Public Service Administration and Certificate in Public Management. He was also a member of the FBI National Academy, Class 257. Chief Perez has been married for more than 21 years to his wife, Kathleen. They have two sons, Diego and Max.
